I lived in New York.....That's right i said it. I bet most of yall who know me real well are syaing something like "thagt boy maybe visted new york, but he aint never lived there". And it is true, but considering a few things that ive been through it seems as if i did or have and might as well have lived in New York.
I lived in San Antonio for about 9.5 years. In 2010 i rented an apartment that was situtaed right infront of the road. And every morning even at night i could always here cars, trucks and buses driving by. It felt as if lived in a real big city or a city that never slept. The Buses frequent passings sounded like and always gave me the feeling of being or living by a subway. I sing and i couldnt situate my studio in the living room where i initially wanted it or you would hear the sounds of a big city in the background of the tracks. Funny that even though it is in my room you can still hear some of the audio from the street on some tracks if you listen closely.
I guess what really made it feel like living in new york is the fact that my last 6 months there my car broke down and i was taking the bus and taxi everywhere and just like that i felt as if i was in a whole new world much like i wouild be if i actually moved to new york... I saw the ciy of san antonio in a whole new light. however the whole atmospher seemed dark, grimey, uninviting, and the people seemed a whole lot colder and meaner. that whole "catching the bus community" had ne wyork feel. Quiclky i leraned to adapt fast, do my best to make things work no mater the circumstance just like how it seems it would be in New York. Everyday passed by faster and and evrything moved at time drien pace......i guesss in part because my everyday was built around a bus schedule and timing of how far in distance a place just in case i had to walk.................... and i did alot of walking just as i assume alot of New yorkers do in their downtown or maybe andywhere in new york..... considering the traffic its probaly just as reasonable to walk as it is to drive cause you might just get there faster.
And just like in downtown new york......everything seemed to be in arnms reach......so i could and did walk everywhere: teh grocery store, was right there, the bank, blockbuster, a corner store, marshalls, mcdonalds, taco cabana, subway, laundry mat, pawn store all in walking distance of about 5 to 10 minutes. I always heard people talking, conttruction right outside my window, people always walking by wether it was from school cause i lived right by the school there was daycare right across the street from me. Even though i lived all by myself hearing these sounds and always having places to go to with in walking distance where there would always be peolle always gave me a sense of crowdedness. So i never really felt alone. I imagine that this is how people in New York feel......but then again i could be wrong........thats just how feel in TEXAS lol
